£50,000 interim payment secured for mesothelioma sufferer
An asbestos-related disease specialist at Ashtons Legal has obtained an interim payment of £50,000 for Mr T from Norwich just eight weeks after starting to work with him on his injury claim and four months after his mesothelioma diagnosis.
Mr T, a carpenter in his early 60s, was exposed to asbestos in the 1960s and 1970s while working for a small regional carpentry firm.
Ashtons comments: “Where possible we will always obtain an early interim payment in a mesothelioma claim. While treatments are improving all the time and there are some potentially exciting immunotherapy options being trialled, there is currently no cure for mesothelioma. The type of mesothelioma, the stage of cancer at the time of diagnosis and the general health of the patient will all have an impact on the prognosis but sadly many patients die within a year of being diagnosed.
“It is therefore very important to do everything we can to secure prompt interim payments to enable patients to maximise their quality of life and have peace of mind that their families are provided for if their condition deteriorates.”
