£48,000 obtained for Suffolk man following jaw fracture
Tim Gleave, a personal injury specialist at Ashtons, has obtained a £48,000 settlement for a man whose jaw was fractured when he was kicked in the face by a cow.
During the course of his job, Mr T was in charge of some cows which were being exhibited at a county show. One animal was being led down a ramp when it suddenly took off. To prevent the cow running into the general public area, Mr T held onto the lead and in doing so was kicked in the face by the cow.
As a result he suffered a fractured jaw. He required surgery and was off work for eight weeks. He will require further surgery in the future.
Tim Gleave comments: “Injury claims where the injury has been caused by an animal are sometimes difficult to pursue, particularly where a wild animal is the cause of the injury. However, in instances such as this one a claim can be brought under the Animal Act 1971.”
