Ruth Booy (Ashtons Legal partner and Head of Injury Services) and Justina Molloy (Personal Injury associate) successfully completed the ‘Bobby on a Bike’ challenge this week. They cycled 373 miles from the East Anglian coast to the west coast of Wales in four days to raise funds for the emergency medical charity, Magpas, and SSAFA (the National Armed Forces Charity). The Bobby on a Bike initiative was the brain child of a police officer at Suffolk Constabulary thirteen years ago and every year it inspires people to jump on their bikes in aid of a range of causes and charities.62 cyclists took part in this year’s challenge and 54, including Ruth and Justina, completed it. They started out on Sunday 19 May in Aldeburgh, Suffolk, cycling west to Cambridge. On the second day they completed 105 miles in just over eight hours between Cambridge and Stratford upon Avon. Day three saw them complete 88 miles in 7 hours 49 minutes, reaching 6,200ft at the highest point as they travelled through the Cotswolds and Wye Valley. The final leg of the journey on Wednesday was perhaps the most challenging; they cycled through gale force head winds and reached 8,000ft as they tackled the relentless hills and mountains of mid Wales, finally reaching the finish line in Aberystwyth after 11 hours 30 minutes of cycling and 87 miles.Pictured above: Ruth Booy (left) and Justina Molloy (right) at the top of a 1,400ft climb in Hay on Wye.Find out more about Bobby on a Bike here.
