Successful personal injury claim involving faulty gym equipment
Louise Harper, a personal injury specialist at Ashtons Legal, has successfully settled the claim of Hertfordshire man Mr F, who suffered a broken nose after faulty gym equipment fell on his face.
Mr F had purchased his home gym equipment directly from the manufacturer and was able to provide video footage showing a faulty clip that caused the equipment to break and fall on him.
Louise comments: “Mr F has continued to experience problems with his nose following the injury and initial treatment. He is now considering further surgery to try to correct both its functionality and appearance. The £12,000 settlement reflects this. While the majority of the personal injury claims that we bring on behalf of clients are for either workplace accidents or road traffic collisions, it is possible to bring a claim against a manufacturer of faulty equipment by establishing their liability under the Consumer Protection Act and this is what we achieved for Mr F.”
