Provisional asbestos-related disease compensation settlement obtained for Norfolk man
Sylvia Phillips, who specialises in asbestos-related disease claims at Ashtons Legal, has obtained a provisional settlement of over £70,000 for a former British Sugar worker, Mr M.
Mr M initially developed pleural thickening, an asbestos-related disease which reduces the elasticity of the lining of the lungs.
Sylvia explains: “By obtaining a provisional settlement, we have left the door open for Mr M and his family to seek a higher settlement in the future depending on how his condition progresses.
“Pleural thickening is sometimes the first condition to be diagnosed when someone who has been exposed to asbestos begins to experience symptoms, but this can then develop into mesothelioma in the future.
“The advantage of bringing a claim early and obtaining a provisional settlement is that a client is able to use the money to ensure the best possible quality of life while living with his or her illness.”
