Over £50,000 injury settlement for dog walker injured by a bull

Roger Loomes, a personal injury specialist at Ashtons Legal, has settled for over £50,000 the personal injury claim of a Suffolk man who was attacked by a bull while out with his dog.

Mr D was walking his dog on a public footpath which crossed farm land when the attack occurred. Fortunately, his dog managed to scare away the bull after its first attack, but nevertheless, Mr D suffered a range of injuries, which resulted in him spending several days in his local hospital.

Roger says: “The tenant farmer sought to deny responsibility, saying that he put out warning signs that there was a bull in the field and in any event this was of quiet temperament with no history of aggression. Animal injuries generally have attracted considerable media attention recently, in particular in relation to dangerous dogs. Sadly, not all animal owners take appropriate precautions to ensure that their pets or livestock are not in a position to injure members of the public and we therefore continue to see people needing support to pursue injury claims of this kind.”
