In excess of £200,000 compensation obtained for family of mesothelioma sufferer

Ashtons’ asbestos-related disease specialist Sylvia Phillips has settled the injury claim of a Norfolk man who died shortly after receiving a diagnosis of mesothelioma.

Mr T worked for a range of businesses, including Heatrae, and was exposed to asbestos during the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s while working in various different factories, where asbestos was still in use.

Sylvia comments: “Due to the length of time between asbestos exposure and the development of symptoms, we continue to hear from newly-diagnosed mesothelioma sufferers on a regular basis.

“Many are former carpenters, electricians, pipefitters or other construction industry workers and were employed before the health and safety guidance around working with asbestos was tightened up. Most were given no form of protective clothing or equipment and suffered extensive exposure to asbestos dust.”
