Five figure sum obtained for family of Norfolk metal worker
Martyn Hayward, an Ashtons Legal specialist in asbestos-related disease injury claims, has obtained a settlement payment for the family of a former Heatrae employee who died following a diagnosis of asbestosis.
Mr G was a metal worker at their George Street premises in Norwich for a decade, primarily in the 1960s.
It was the mention of asbestosis on Mr G’s death certificate that prompted his family to seek legal advice from Ashtons. With no witness evidence available from Mr G, an appeal in the press for former colleagues to come forward resulted in several of Mr G’s former workmates contacting Ashtons and providing details of how they were all exposed to asbestos during the course of their employment with Heatrae.
Martyn Hayward comments: “No amount of money can compensate a family for the death of a loved one. Sadly we are still seeing the legacy of asbestos exposure from workers who worked for such firms as Heatrae in the past before the dangers of exposure were fully understood and proper protective measures put in place.”
