A&E Doctor warns that thousands of lives are at risk this winter
In an article published this week, Dr Adrian Boyle, President of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine, has said that the plans drawn up to deal with the inevitable A&E winter crisis are inadequate.
This would mean that vulnerable groups of the population would be at most risk.
He has warned that the country is at risk of seeing higher excess deaths this winter than last, and the problem is only escalating with increased waiting times and a lack of resources such as beds and nursing staff.
This will undoubtedly cause worry and concern for those in settings caring for elderly, frail and already at-risk patients. The uncertainty of timely medical care will most definitely put lives at risk.
