£70,000 obtained for Suffolk pedestrian hit by a van

Graham Heywood, a personal injury specialist at Ashtons Legal, has obtained a settlement of £70,000 for Mr T, a student who suffered a range of injuries after being hit by a van while walking along a country lane at night.

Fortunately, many of his injuries healed well over time and, despite suffering a brain injury, Mr T has been able to complete his studies and obtain employment in his chosen field.

Graham comments: “Mr T was walking along a road without a footpath in the dark and was wearing dark clothing. He didn’t hear a vehicle approaching from behind him and the van driver didn’t see him in time to take evasive action. The driver’s insurers continued to maintain that incident was not the van driver’s fault but we were nevertheless able to negotiate a settlement that will help Mr T to access continued private rehabilitation support to help mitigate the effects of his injuries.”
