£38,000 settlement obtained for Norfolk man following back injury

Ashtons Legal personal injury specialist Tim Gleave has obtained a £38,000 settlement for Mr D who suffered a back injury while moving gas bottles.

Mr D, who works for a gas bottle supplier, was asked to move a large number of heavy gas bottles which should have been, but were not, empty ready for reconditioning.

In moving an unreasonable number of heavy bottles without assistance he suffered a back injury.

Mr D went home after work and was in a great deal of pain.

He reported the matter to his employers the next day but the incident was not put in the accident book at work.

Mr D had previous back problems which medical evidence later showed had been accelerated by up to five years by the new injury.

Tim says: “Mr D did not approach us until two years after his accident when he had undergone two operations. Although his employers continued to deny liability we were able to obtain a settlement which will enable him to get the further treatment he needs for his back in the future.”
