£35,000 obtained for woman whose dislocation was not spotted on X-ray
Julie Crossley, a medical negligence specialist at Ashtons Legal, has obtained £35,000 for Ms P, a woman who developed arthritis after a hospital failed to spot a dislocation in her foot.
Ms P attended hospital after slipping and injuring her foot. She underwent an x-ray which revealed that she had suffered a small fracture, however the full extent of Ms P’s injury was not recognised.
It was later discovered that Ms P had dislocated one of the bones in her foot. Had this been identified sooner it would have been treated appropriately and could have avoided much of the pain she endured as well as the development of arthritis.
Julie comments: “Had Ms P received immediate treatment for her dislocation, it is likely that she would have had symptoms no more extensive than a little bit of stiffness and aching. I’m pleased with the outcome of the case, however this was a matter where an offer sat on the table for almost three years without any attempt at negotiation by the defendant until just before trial.”
