£200,000 personal injury claim settlement for workplace machinery injury

  • Posted

Roger Loomes, a personal injury specialist based in Ashtons’ Ipswich office, has succeeded in obtaining £200,000 for Mr S, a Norfolk man who was injured at work when a large item of machinery fell onto his leg.

As a result of his physical injuries, Mr S initially spent several days in hospital and has undergone extensive rehabilitation. Unfortunately, his leg injury exacerbated a pre-existing ankle problem, and he is no longer able to carry out heavy manual work, which has severely limited his employment prospects. Mr S also continues to suffer significant psychological symptoms.

Roger comments: “Mr S’s claim was complicated by the fact that his pre-existing medical condition would probably have resulted in him having to change jobs to a non-manual role in the medium term in any event. However, if the incident had not occurred he would probably have been able to continue in his previous role, which he enjoyed, for several more years. Mr S’s life has been dramatically changed by his injury. This settlement will, however, help to ensure that he isn’t financially disadvantaged as a result of his injuries and can continue to receive the rehabilitation treatment that he needs.”
