£101,000 obtained for injury following a road traffic collision

Tom Ranson, a personal injury specialist at Ashtons Legal, recently obtained compensation totalling £101,000 for a lady who suffered a shoulder injury and psychological trauma following a road traffic collision.

Mrs P was the front seat passenger when the car she was travelling in was hit from the side by another car.  Mrs P suffered an injury to her shoulder and also suffered from travel anxiety.

Although Mrs P was able to return to work and received private treatment (both for her physical and psychological trauma), the medical experts instructed on her behalf were cautious about the long-term impact given the manual nature of her work.

The insurance company concerned initially offered £10,000 and went on to dispute the nature and extent of Mrs P’s injuries. Mrs P instructed Ashtons to issue Court proceedings and following this the insurance company increased their offer to £20,000 before settling for £101,000.

Tom Ranson comments: “By obtaining the right evidence and by supporting Mrs P every step of the way, she trusted us to successfully negotiate settlement of her claim at a level that properly reflected the injuries and losses she suffered, despite the other party’s scepticism and misguided attempts to discredit her.
