COVID-19 – workers able to carry over holiday for the next two leave years
The Government has announced there will be an amendment to Regulation 13 of the Working Time Regulations to allow workers to carry over EU holiday into the next two leave years where it is not reasonably practicable for them to take some or all of the holiday in the current leave year due to the coronavirus crisis.
This affects the first 20 days of the statutory minimum holiday rather than the additional eight days’ in the UK which, for many but not all workers, covers the public holidays. Those eight days, however, can be carried over by agreement by the parties, along with any additional contractual holiday.
This is subject to the specific regulations to follow.
