Tim Ridyard at the Fleet Engineer Conference 2017
Regulatory Partner Tim Ridyard spoke yesterday at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry at the Freight Transport Association (FTA) national Fleet Engineer Conference 2017.
Along with key industry speakers, he spoke about gross negligence manslaughter, escalating fines for Health & Safety offences and the Bath tipper tragedy.
Other speakers included the Department for Transport, DVSA, Transport for London, Volvo, Renault and the Centre for Sustainable Freight and subjects covered were new legislation, reduced emissions, new direct vision standards on lorries (to reduce pedestrian/cyclist accidents) alternative fuels/electric commercial vehicles, autonomous vehicles and ‘platooning’ (convoys of lorries linked by technology wirelessly and coming soon to a motorway/dual carriageway near you!).
