Ashtons Legal secures future premises at Fornham Business Court
Regional law firm Ashtons Legal has confirmed its future commitment to Bury St Edmunds, signing a deal which will see the business move into new purpose-designed premises at Fornham Business Court in Fornham St Martin. The move will take place in stages, with one new office being ready for occupation in mid-2018 and a second one becoming available in mid-2019.
Ashtons is seeking to establish one large mid-region presence as opposed to separate smaller ones in mid-Anglia to complement its presence in Cambridge, Norwich and Ipswich. With this in mind the firm vacated premises in Kempson Way, Bury St Edmunds, in 2017, accommodating the staff from that office across their other locations. These staff, and those located in the Guildhall Street premises, are expected to move to Fornham Business Court in June.
Edward O’Rourke, CEO at Ashtons, says: “This is an exciting step for us.The new modern offices will be able to accommodate up to 160 people at any one time. We currently have around 350 staff across East Anglia and expect to continue to grow steadily, with Bury being a good central location in which to base some teams.By the time the project is complete we will also have 150 parking spaces, which will benefit clients and employees alike, particularly as the centre of Bury St Edmunds continues to get busier in light of the additional residential development. We are however aware that a small minority of our clients usually come to us on foot or by public transport and will ensure that we put arrangements in place to continue to meet their needs.”
Gina Long adds: “Fornham Business Court is delighted to welcome Ashtons Legal to Hall Farm, Fornham St Martin. As well a splendid location for Ashtons to create a central hub for their expanding business, it also has the benefit of sitting at the crossroads of the A14 , A134 and A143 giving excellent communication routes to Ashtons other locations at Norwich, Ipswich and Cambridge”.
Gina says: “In their new location, Ashtons will initially occupy the sympathetically restored Suffolk Long Barn and this will be quickly followed by a further bespoke office block. The finished complex will have significant private parking for clients and employees on the edge of Bury St Edmunds yet with the benefit of a beautiful countryside environment. Andrew and I, along with the other tenants at FBC, look forward to welcoming Ashtons in the coming months.”
