Ashtons Legal proud to have a ‘Future Legal Mind 2020’ finalist
Jessica Hitchcock, a Trainee Legal Executive at Ashtons Legal, is a shortlisted finalist for this year’s ‘Future Legal Mind 2020’.
Future Legal Mind is an essay competition and the ten finalists have between them addressed many different points about the legal profession and their aspirations.
In Jessica’s essay, she talked about the law giving you the powerful tools to help others, coupled with the ability to be a voice for change – a unique combination for a desk job!
She also discussed her personal experience suffering from a chronic illness, endometriosis, and how a keen interest in human rights and particularly women’s rights, has led her to have an aspiration to see that women’s health issues are recognised in the workplace. Tackling the stigma should mean that women receive the flexibility and understanding to thrive in their careers in law regardless.
Fortunately, her experience at Ashtons has been a very positive one in this regard as the firm has already implemented the Endometriosis Friendly Employer Scheme and Jessica now acts as the firm’s Endometriosis Champion, a point of contact for signposting, support and sustaining a diverse and inclusive workforce.
The competition winner will be announced in May.
