Greg McCurday, Senior Associate, Commercial Property: “I am very pleased I made the decision to join Ashtons. The quality of work I am undertaking, the welcome and support I have received, the flexibility and work-life balance (which every firm claims to offer, but the reality is often different), the values of the firm and the career development prospects have all lived up to expectations thus far.”
Fatemeh Bahrami, Junior Paralegal, Lifetime Planning: “I started at Ashtons in May 2022, coming straight from doing my LPC-LLM. To say I was nervous was an understatement, as I had not worked in a full-service law firm before. I am in the Lifetime Planning department and can say that my experience here thus far has been enjoyable, and my team are very supportive. You are encouraged to always achieve the next goal and no two days are the same. Everyone is friendly and always there to support you in whatever you need. If I was to pick two words to describe Ashtons’ atmosphere as an employee, it would be supportive and respectful.”
Mandy Cavanagh, Associate, Medical Negligence: “I have been a member of Ashtons (pre and post-mergers) for 25 years in April 2023. Originally employed as a float secretary, moving to work for the Clinical Negligence (CN) team, I have been PA to Senior Partner until his retirement, Paralegal to another Partner in the team until running my own CN caseload since 2015. I am absolutely passionate about my job and helping vulnerable clients. Proudly, after completing an effective leadership course, I was promoted to Associate in April 2022. My bio demonstrates the ethos of Ashtons. Our clients and our staff are at the very heart of all that we do. The supportive and collaborative nature of individuals within my team, and the wider firm, has been phenomenal and enabled me to progress in my career. With hard work and dedication, nothing is impossible, the opportunities are there for everyone.”.
Ecaterina Pandelea, Office Services Administrator, Central Office Services: “Before joining Ashtons Legal, I didn’t have experience working within a law firm, however following the guidance of my team members in the COS team, I was able to learn so much in a short period of time. The variety of tasks and the opportunity to support different legal teams has allowed me to gain knowledge and skills that I did not have before. I am forever grateful to be working at such an amazing firm and with supportive people.”
Rebecca Dixon, Solicitor, Lifetime Planning: “I was initially concerned that joining a larger firm may come with the downside of feeling like “just another cog in the machine” however, Ashtons is nothing like that. I feel truly valued as an individual, and everyone (whether in my department or others) is incredibly friendly and supportive. Ashtons takes its core values seriously, and I see those values being applied every day. Ashtons’ commitment to the wellbeing of staff is refreshing; from the availability of mental health first aiders throughout the firm to everyday occurrences such as sunflower growing competitions and menopause workshops – this is truly a firm that goes above and beyond.”
Ross Blows, Associate, Court of Protection: “Ashtons offers a fantastic environment for growth both with team-based roles and firm-wide roles. I began working for Ashtons in June 2014 within our Court of Protection team, joining as a Financial Administrator. Over the preceding years, I have been given opportunities to grow my knowledge base in this niche area. Off the back of this, I have progressed from the Finance team to the client-facing team, and now I form part of the management team. On a firm level, I have successfully undertaken one of our internal Leadership programmes, after which I was promoted to the role of Associate within the firm. I would not have been able to achieve this without the support and encouragement from the great team I have around me here at Ashtons who embody our core values.”
